Danny Welbeck, born on November 26, 1990, in Longsight, Manchester, England, is an English football player who plays as a centre forward. A product of Manchester United’s youth academy, he made his first-team debut in 2008 and scored on that occasion. He helped the team win the League Cup in the 2008–09 season and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2008; during this period, he was loaned to Preston and Sunderland. In the 2011–12 season, he became a regular starter for Manchester United, and in September 2014, he transferred to Arsenal for £16 million. After joining Arsenal in 2014, he made his debut against Manchester City. In October of the same year, he scored his first career hat-trick in a Champions League match against Galatasaray. Throughout his time at Arsenal, he frequently missed matches due to injuries. His contract expired in 2019, and he left the club after helping it win the FA Cup in 2017, among other honors. In August 2019, he signed with Watford; however, both parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract in October 2020. That same month, he joined Brighton as a free agent on a one-year deal. He subsequently signed multiple extensions, with his contract most recently extended until June 2026 in May 2024. During his tenure at Brighton, he delivered numerous key performances; in April 2025, he became the club’s all-time top Premier League scorer. He has represented England at various youth levels, from U16 to U21, and made his senior national team debut in March 2011. In June 2012, he scored his first goal for the senior team. He participated with England in UEFA Euro 2012, as well as the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.
